JOY UNSPEAKABLE: Finding Strength in the Savior

Have you ever felt "revived" just by mentioning a Name? We all have days when we're too tired to pray and too weary to worship. But as C. Atkinson shares in this post, there is a specific kind of joy—a "Joy Unspeakable"—that sparks to life the moment we start talking about Jesus. Discover how to move from exhaustion to electricity by tapping into the Sovereign power of the Alpha and Omega.

“You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward of trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.”1 Peter 1:8-10 (NLT)

The Lord wants us to know Him—to truly acknowledge that He is Sovereign over all the earth. As Psalm 24:1-2 declares, the earth and everything in it belong to Him. When we grasp this revelation, we realize we can conquer all things through Christ who strengthens us.

There is a sweet, profound joy waiting for us when we build our confidence in who God is. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End (Revelation 22:13). As His children, He wants His perfect love to be the foundation that anchors our souls. Paul famously asked in Romans 8:35, "Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love?" Whether it is calamity, hunger, or danger, the answer remains a resounding no.

The "Electricity" of His Presence

Have you ever started a conversation—perhaps over the phone or in person—and the deeper you go into the subject, the harder it is to hang up?

Last night, while driving home from work, the Lord took me down memory lane. When I first pulled out of the parking lot, I was exhausted; I didn't even have the words to pray. But as I drove in silence, a familiar song began to ring out loud and clear in my spirit: “I feel good, every time I talk about Jesus!”

The Lord began to remind me of the many times I’ve spent driving home tired and anxious, only to feel completely revived the moment I started worshipping with all my heart. He reminded me of those perfectly timed phone calls from friends where, as soon as they mentioned the name of Jesus, it felt like electricity running through my body.

I know many of you can testify to this same experience. There is a JOY UNSPEAKABLE tucked deep in your soul that words simply cannot explain.

Mercies Fresh Every Morning

Jesus knows we will experience the "ups and downs" of life, but He wants us to be anchored in hope. The Prophet Jeremiah gives us a powerful example of this in the book of Lamentations. Even while grieving a great loss, he dared to hope because he remembered one truth:

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” (Lamentations 3:22-23)

When you have a personal relationship with Jesus, He craves your attention. He wants you to fall deeper in love with Him through His Word. Matthew 5:6 promises that those who hunger and thirst after righteousness shall be filled.

Don't Lose Hope

JD&L Mission encourages you today: Don’t lose hope! Keep your head up. The Lord will remind you of His goodness. He will send help from the north, south, east, and west just to show you how much He loves you. That is the God we serve! Embrace every moment of His presence, for in His presence is the fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11).

A Prayer for Joy

Dear Jesus, We thank You, Abba Father, that in You we can rest. We desire that peace which surpasses all understanding. You promised that if we keep our minds stayed on You, You will keep us in perfect peace. We thank You that the joy of the Lord is our strength.

Help us to experience Your joy unspeakable, especially in those moments when we feel we have nothing left to say or do. Thank You for the gift of eternal life. Give us the boldness to never be ashamed of the Gospel, but to speak of Your faithfulness to everyone we meet. May we always "feel good" every time we talk about Jesus. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.
