As we step into this new year, we reflect on the grace and mercy that have sustained us. It is truly "sweet to trust in Jesus," and our hearts overflow with gratitude that He has brought us this far. But as we look ahead, the Lord is calling us to a deeper state of readiness. He does not want us to be caught off guard; He has given us a divine roadmap to ensure our souls are prepared for the day He returns.

The Revelation of the EXIT

While meditating on the Book of John, a powerful revelation emerged from a simple word we see every day: EXIT.

In John 1:5, the Word tells us, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” To extinguish means to bring to an end. Through the lens of the Holy Spirit, the word EXIT takes on a transformative meaning for the believer:

E – Existed: Jesus existed before all things.
X – eXtinguish: He came to extinguish the power of sin and darkness.
I – Illuminate: He shines His light within us.
T – Transformed: We are changed into His likeness, ready for our final departure from this world.

As 1 Corinthians 15:52 reminds us, our ultimate transformation will happen "in the blink of an eye." Jesus came to do away with the darkness of sin so that we can be fully illuminated by His glory.

Living as a Voice in the Wilderness

Just like John the Baptist, we are called to be witnesses. John wasn’t the Light himself; he was a voice crying out to prepare the way. In our communities, families, and workplaces, we are called to be that same voice—sharing the goodness of God and warning others to turn toward His wonderful light (1 Peter 2:9).

Maintaining this light requires daily commitment. The early church in Acts 2:42 survived and thrived because they continued steadfastly in doctrine, fellowship, and prayer. To keep our lamps burning, we must submit to the Word, fasting, and prayer, allowing our minds to be constantly renewed.

The Plan of Salvation: The Name That Saves

To truly "EXIT" this world with peace, we must adhere to the Great Plan of Salvation. Just as Peter preached on the Day of Pentecost, the foundation of our walk is built on repentance and baptism.

There is a divine revelation in the Name. While we acknowledge the titles of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the Bible shows us that the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Jesus (Colossians 2:9). When the Apostles baptized, they did so in the Name of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38, Acts 19:5). It is the name that carries the authority to remit sins and the power to usher in the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Your Final Call

The "Extinguisher"—Jesus Christ of Nazareth—wants to baptize you with a holy fire that can never be put out. Before you EXIT this world, will you be the voice that cries out in your community? Will you embrace the fullness of Christ and share this saving truth with a world in need?

Let us rise to the call. Let us be transformed.
