“The Works of the WORLD”

Exodus 6:5-7 (NLT)

“You can be sure that I have heard the groans of the people of Israel, who are now slaves to the Egyptians. And I am well aware of my covenant with them. “Therefore, say to the people of Israel: I am the Lord, I will free you from your oppression and will rescue you from your slavery in Egypt. I will redeem you with a powerful arm and great acts of judgment. I will claim you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God who has freed you from your oppression in Egypt.”

I Greet you today in the mighty and awesome name of Jesus. Today, let us reflect on the goodness of God and how He has broken the prison bars of sin for you and me. If you are saved, let us recommit daily to the covenant we’ve made with the Lord that no matter what comes our way we will stand for Christ. If you are not saved (accept Jesus as your Lord and savior- receive the great plan of salvation), I would like to encourage you to seek the Lord with all your heart and give your life to Christ Jesus. For the time is now!

When was the last time you did a self-evaluation of how you truly feel about the life you are living? Do you ever feel weighed down by the cares or heavy burdens with no ease in sight?  Did you know that Satan, the prince of the air, the accuser of the brethren wants to oppress and keep God's people in bondage, and sometimes the way you feel is due to his meddling. Galatians 5:1(AMP) state, “It was for this freedom that Christ set us free [completely liberating us]; therefore, keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery [which you once removed].” This verse encourages believers to stand firm in the freedom in Christ, and not be enslaved by sin again. The story of the Great Passover (commemorates the slavery of the Israelites in Egypt and their ultimate exodus to freedom) is celebrated till this day as a reminder to us that God doesn’t desire to keep us in “The Works of the World”, but to grant us freedom. The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever (Psalm 121:7-8, NLT).

The other day I woke up with a heavy burden! A burden for souls- the souls of my family, friends, coworkers, and just people in general.  This burden swept over my soul and it was so intense, that immediately all I could do was pray. 1 Peter 5:8 tells us to “Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour” (AMP). Therefore, we must be alert and watchful. One day my pastor during his sermon stated, “The enemy comes “LIKE” a roaring lion, but he is not a lion. He only acts like one, yet he is nothing compare to the true and living God, Jesus Christ, the conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah.

If we look into the world we live today, this generation has been inundated with social media and the enemies’ desires to pull us away from the true and living God (studying the word daily). The prison is engulfed with men and women deceived by the lust of the eyes and flesh. The pride of life has overtaken the government system- where moral values and freedom of speech has been abused for generations with man’s opinions. No value or respect is given to the only true and living God, yet we say “In God we trust” or “Lord bless this country.” Where is the Church? The Church that will stand and say no to the Pharaoh of this time we are living in. Matthew 12:25 states, “Every Kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.” Unity in the church makes all things possible but disunity ensures nothing but ruin. Let us stand against “The Works of this World” and put on the works of the spirit that will give us eternal life. For there is a way that seem right unto man but that way leads to death. The Lord wants us to make us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image (2 Corinthians 3:18).

This process of changing us to be like Jesus is called sanctification. This process cannot be done in our own strength, it can only be done through the Spirit of God. Philippians 2:13 says, "God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.”

Galatians 5:19:26 (NLT) states, “When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to His cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.”

Moses was given a task/assignment by God that could only be done by the Spirit of God. Moses in himself was no match to Pharaoh and his army but, our God who sent him was more than able to face every force of darkness that oppressed His people for years. God hearing their cries decided to make a way for them. The process was tedious to Moses, yet he had to follow every detail the Lord commanded him to do. Moses pointed to the inadequacy of himself as a man, God, in turn, pointed to Himself (Exodus 3:11-12). Just like Moses, we are reminded that we are just human. Today in this sinful world, there is a need for men and women who only rely on the Lord's strength to fulfill their purpose here on earth. So what has the Lord asked you in this time? Whether it’s on your job, in your family there is a task awaiting you to see God's people set free from “The Works of this world”.

While accomplishing our God-given task while here on the Earth, we are expected to come up against oppositions if we ought to make it as a Kingdom citizen. God has already equipped you if He has assigned you to the task. Paul and Silas were great examples, fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19) and while on their mission to preach the Gospel the Bible says, “A mob quickly formed against Paul and Silas, and the city officials ordered them stripped and beaten with wooden rods. They were severely beaten, and then they were thrown into prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn’t escape. So, the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks (Acts 16:22-24, NLT).” In the midst of their persecution, “Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off (Acts 16:25-26).” People of God, there is power in your praise!

So let us step out with the Great Commission, to see the chains of the Works of this World broken in Jesus’ name. There are so many souls crying out and we shouldn't let them pass by. Many are waiting for your obedience to say yes to the task. By meditating on the Word daily and applying it to our lives, we can find the strength and hope to break free from the chains that wants to keep us captive to “THE WORKS OF THE WORLD”

Let your prayers & praise be your weapon, in JESUS NAME!

GOD BLESS YOU!!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!
