“The Lord is our Strength”

Psalms 29:10-11

“The Lord rules over the floodwaters. The Lord reigns as King forever. The lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace”.(NLT)

As we begin a new week, you may have a busy schedule ahead of you. Where ever you are at this moment it is essential to STOP- to honor the Lord for His glory and strength. As the psalmist David declares, “Honor the Lord for the glory of his name. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness” (Psalms 29:2). I remember, a few years ago, the Lord used a STOP sign to speak to me about submitting to His Word. I realized I made it a habit to cautiously yield instead of obeying the universal STOP sign law. Two times I was pulled over by the same police officer for not stopping. The first time he pulled me over, I apologized that I was in a hurry and admitted to just yielding. He then went on to give me instructions to what it means to STOP. He said, “When you know you’ve stopped, you will feel your car completely stop with no movement”. The second time, he said, “you again?”, I put my head down and said, “Officer I was so tired that I just wanted to get home and my mind was thinking about my schedule ahead of me”. The Lord was so merciful both times and the police gave me a break. The Lord began to speak to me that same day. He said, “When you look at the STOP sign what do you see?” I saw a word in each letter of STOP: Submit, Teachable Spirit, Obedience, & Patience. Truly in those moments, the Lord revealed His faithfulness and mercies, in spite of my weakness. He used the Word “STOP” to alarm me on the importance of obeying His Word. Romans 13:1-2, states, “Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So, anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished”. We thank Jesus for His mercies that are new every morning, but let us not take it for granted. Let us learn from our shortcomings or faults that causes us to sin.

Many times, we wake up in the morning with a cumbersome weight of things on our mind. However, the Lord want us to exercise our faith in believing that He is our strength. The Lord said to His disciples, “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life- whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing” (Matthew 6:25). He wants to remind us, that in our daily Christian lives that nothing we face here on earth is too big for our God. However, taking the time, to STOP, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take” (Proverbs 3:5-6). Let us be encouraged this week, as we STOP to acknowledge our Lord rules and reigns as king over all things. He is worthy of our praise and in our weakness His strength is made perfect.

Prayer: Abba Father, your grace is sufficient to sustain your children. Lord, we pray that you will give us a heart after your own heart, to be Submissive to your will. Guide our steps & reveal through your Holy Word to have a Teachable Spirit on this journey with you. You said in your word obedience is better than sacrifice. We pray that you give us a Spirit of Obedience at all times. Lord, we are only human and need your strength to do all things. Grants us your wisdom to have Patience to endure the race you have set before us in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Please set time aside to read the scriptures referenced throughout.

Truly this is profound. The things we often times overlook are the ones that should be of importance. Yet, we become so complacent that we forget that we should take note. I thank the Lord for His love and mercy, and His patience for us. So often, though we are good at pretending, we come to the realization that we need His presence in our daily lives. I know I do, as I would be in shambles as I speak. Glory to His name we have an anchor in Him! Glory, hallelujah!, He is there to hide us in His cleft. Let's prays for those who have not yet know this true love of Jesus. I pray He will gi…
