Romans 8:9-11
“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you." (KJV)
Saints of God, I rejoice today, for this is the day that the Lord has made, and it gives me a reason to arise and give Him PRAISE! Can I get an Amen! I thank God for you always and pray that you are well in body, mind and soul. Today I want to sound the alarm on how "The Holy Spirit is necessary."
Do you have the Holy Spirit? Are we seeing the signs around us? The Lord's return is near, but I come today with a sounding alarm to remind us: "The Holy Spirit is necessary."
One day, the trumpet will sound, and the dead in Christ will rise, but do you have this precious gift of the Holy Spirit? It's a gift promise to all, for this is the reason Jesus came for you and me... HALLELUJAH!!!
The Apostles experienced this great gift on the day of Pentecost as they waited. Acts 2:1-4 states, "When the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.”
So, why is "The Holy Spirit necessary"? Let's take a look at John 16:7 where Jesus declared, "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you." Jesus made it clear that it was necessary for Him to go away so He could send the Comforter- the Holy Spirit. Can you imagine how His disciples felt? Jesus the Comforter, walked with them daily, and they had a desire to never leave His side. But there was more that Jesus needed them to understand. They understood the natural world, but lacked the things of the Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is a spiritual gift and benefit that this world cannot offer. It is a treasure that comes only from Almighty God. The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 4:7, KJV, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” We have been given the privilege and honor to live a life that manifests within us the death and resurrection power of Jesus Christ. After the Day of Pentecost, the Apostles went forth with the Holy Spirit burning on the inside. Signs and wonders immediately started to follow them as they went to declare the great plan of Salvation, (See Acts 3). The Church was on fire, and nothing could stop them. They continued in one accord because of the power of the Holy Spirit. In fact, the Bible tells us that they turned the world upside down (Acts 17) causing many to believe, even though some rejected them with great envy.
Saints of God, the Holy Spirit is what will guarantee us a ticket into heaven! We are living in a time that the enemy is lurking, angry, and working overtime to seek whom he may devour to draw us away from this great treasure!
You will know you have the Holy Spirit by the evidence of speaking in tongues, just as the Apostles did.
They knew "The Holy Spirit is necessary" after that day, and they continued in faith. After receiving this precious gift, they went forth with power. Wherever they went there were signs and wonders that followed them, miracles took place, but most importantly- souls were being saved! The Bible tell us in Acts 2:40-41, that Peter "with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls".
The Apostle Paul, called to preach to the Gentiles, went on a mission with great power. In Acts 19:2-6 (NLT), he encountered some disciples and asked, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” he asked them. “No,” they replied, “we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit. “Then what baptism did you experience?” They replied, “The baptism of John. ”Paul then explained, “John’s baptism called for repentance from sin. But John himself told the people to believe in the one who would come later, meaning Jesus.” As soon as they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other tongues and prophesied.
Jesus didn’t just come to save the world from their sins. He came so that we can receive the treasure of the Holy Spirit in our earthen vessel. Yes, it is written, “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life,” (John 3:16), but there is something that's also necessary! Jesus told His disciples after His resurrection, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” (Mark 16:15-18). We have been given a promise, sealed until His return.
Recently I have attended multiple funerals, sadly hearing news that someone passed away has become a norm, which pierced my heart. During one of these services I could hear the Lord saying to me, "The Holy Spirit is necessary.” Does everyone know this? And if not, who will tell them? This revelation has set off an alert in my spirit. There should be rejoicing, but instead, there is a great mourning. Ecclesiastes 7:4 (KJV) states ,“The heart of the wise is in the house of the mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.” In the midst of this life, we must understand the value of our spiritual inheritance and know that a wise person thinks about death to prepare our souls for His return. For as children of God, we don’t mourn like those who have no hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13).
The Bible tells us in Romans 10:14-15, "But how can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent?”
A year ago, the Lord reminded me of the scripture Ecclesiastes 7:2, “It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart." The Lord imparted this scripture on my heart after receiving news that my grand uncle passed away. As the dates for my grand uncle’s funeral were finalized, God spoke to me: “Cancel your current plans, it is better to go to a funeral to not only comfort your family and friends, but to encourage them to be ready for His return.” I went to celebrate a life lived for Christ and remind others of the great work the Lord has done for us.
Saints, I come with a fire in my belly to say unto all that is reading this devotional, that the Lord is coming back soon, and we must be ready! Will you go and tell the world about Jesus? Will you share this great promise before it is too late? Do you have the Holy Spirit? If not, I need you to know that it is a promise for all! Romans 8:9-11 (KJV), emphasizes that in order to be caught up with the Lord when He returns, we must have His Spirit. This is so important, therefore we must be prepared.
Please take the time to read the scriptures throughout!
Matthew 25:13 (NLT)
“So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return.”
This is the WORD of the LORD!
Have a blessed and wonderful weekend!
Praying for you, in Jesus’ name
